Our Japanese Garden is a creation based on the understanding of a 'Zen' state of mind. This is the soul of this particular garden design. Using the ancient Shakkei technique of 'borrowed scenery', the garden seamlessly blends with the surrounding landscape, incorporating views of our Wildflower Meadows and Lake.
Most plants here are chosen from the Kyoto Botanical Garden in Japan, with new specimens sent over each year. Some have already become Champion Trees in the UK – the largest or finest examples of their species in the country.

Our plants are sourced directly from Kyoto Botanical Garden in Japan, with new specimens arriving each year. This ensures authentic Japanese species thrive in our Cornish climate.
Champion Trees
Several of our Japanese trees have achieved Champion Tree status in the UK – officially recognized as the largest or finest specimens of their species in the country.
Shakkei Design
Traditional 'borrowed scenery' technique frames views of our Meadows and Lake, creating the illusion that the garden extends infinitely into the landscape.

Designed to create a 'Zen' state of mind. We invite you to sit, reflect, and observe the unique aesthetics while absorbing the peaceful energy of this intimate garden.

Original old trees were carefully retained to control the direction of light throughout the day, creating ever-changing atmospheres from morning to evening.
