A place of tranquility and peace

About Us

Established in the heart of St Austell more than 40 years ago, Pinetum Gardens is a place of tranquillity and peace largely created by Ray and Shirley Clemo; Shirley is an expert on plants and was awarded an MBE in 2011 for her work at Pinetum. A garden for all seasons, the 30-acre site is home to one of the largest plant collections in the county, set within stunning parkland and some of Cornwall’s most spectacular champion trees.

Chang Li has introduced elements of Eastern influence, most notably in the Asian Garden area; he’s also enhanced the visitor experience due to his keen desire for the gardens to be enjoyed by the community.

Coronavirus update:

At Pinetum Gardens our Main concern has always been the safety, health and wellbeing of our staff and guests – the coronavirus pandemic means this has never been more important. While we had hoped to be able to continue access to our gardens and outdoor spaces, the latest Government advice means that this has become increasingly difficult to achieve. We are sure that you will understand why we must close in these unprecedented times. We look forward to welcoming visitors again when we can safely re-open.
